Gut Health · GI-MAP Testing

They looked at the walls. Nobody read what is living inside.

The scope was clear, the labels were “IBS,” and you still react to foods, bloat, and run tired. A colonoscopy checks the plumbing for damage. It never reads the ecosystem — the bacteria, the yeast, the hidden inflammation, and whether you are actually digesting your food. That is what the GI-MAP is for, and it is a picture almost nobody has offered you.

Finding 01 · what the GI-MAP actually reads

A DNA-level look at your gut

The GI-MAP is an at-home stool test that uses DNA (qPCR) technology to identify what is actually in your gut — by name and by amount. That matters, because a lot of what shapes how you feel is not damage to the gut wall. It is the makeup of the ecosystem living inside it, and how well that gut is doing its day job of breaking down food.

It is the difference between checking whether the house is structurally sound and finding out who has been living in it, and whether the plumbing works.

Finding 02 · why standard testing missed it

Scope clearNo abnormality

A clear scope answers a different question

A colonoscopy is built to catch structural disease, and ruling that out matters. But it looks at the wall, not the contents. Routine stool tests, when they are ordered at all, usually hunt for a single obvious infection. Neither reads the balance of your bacteria, an overgrowth of yeast, quiet inflammation, or whether your enzymes are showing up for work. So the report says “normal,” and the thing driving your symptoms was never in view.

Finding 03 · what a fuller look reads

More than “good bugs and bad bugs”

When it is appropriate for your situation, a GI-MAP is read as a whole picture, not a single flagged organism:

  • The microbial balance — helpful bacteria, opportunistic overgrowths, yeast, and parasites, by name and amount
  • Digestion markers — like elastase, a read on whether your pancreas is releasing the enzymes you need to break food down
  • Inflammation — calprotectin, a marker of gut inflammation that can be quietly elevated behind everyday symptoms
  • Barrier and immune markers — clues about a leaky gut lining and your gut’s own immune activity

A single organism in isolation is easy to over- or under-react to. Read together, next to your symptoms and history, the GI-MAP becomes a map you can act on — not a wall of results left for you to decode. Start on the gut health overview if your picture is broader.

Patient intake · what people describe

Does this sound like you?

  • Foods that used to be fine now causing reactions
  • Bloating, gas, or irregular stools that no one has explained
  • Fatigue or brain fog that seems tied to their gut
  • Skin flares, or an immune system that feels off
  • A stack of “normal” results and still no answer

None of these point to one thing on their own. Together, they are a reason to actually read the gut — not to keep managing a label.

The gut touches everything. A GI-MAP often sits alongside a look at SIBO, the wider gut picture, and even hormones, since the gut helps process them. If your picture is bigger than one thing, the Clarity Visit is still the place to start.

Addenda · GI-MAP testing & the Clarity Visit

How is a GI-MAP different from my colonoscopy?

A colonoscopy looks at the structure of the gut wall to rule out disease. The GI-MAP reads the contents — your microbes, digestion, and inflammation markers. They answer completely different questions, and a clear scope does not tell you what a GI-MAP would.

Do I need a GI-MAP to work with you?

Not necessarily. It is one tool, used when it fits your picture. The Clarity Visit starts with what you already have; whether a GI-MAP adds value is a decision we make together based on your story and symptoms.

I got a report once but no plan. How is this different?

That is the exact gap we exist to close. A GI-MAP is only useful read in context and turned into sequenced steps. This content is educational and is not medical advice or a diagnosis, and we do not promise specific outcomes.

Is this available outside Pennsylvania?

Clinical services are limited to adults physically located in Pennsylvania at the time of care.
